Hello Fellow Netizens,
As the future of reproductive rights in the United States remains in flux, Americans continue to wait and see whether they will ultimately be protected or be taken away. A recent ruling from Alabama supports the latter, not by the decision itself but by the consequences it has had on couples who are currently pursuing in vitro fertilizations (IVF).
So, where does this lead us? Other Republican-led states like Florida have been looking into adopting similar measures that could also impact IVF therapy in their states. Democrat-led states have passed laws to protect women’s reproductive rights to push back, especially after the consequential overturn of Roe v. Wade in June of 2022. Given the trends, it seems likely that where you live state-wise will determine how much of your rights will be protected. This will have far-reaching consequences not only for women’s health, but also for the legality of advanced medical treatments considered controversial by far-right governments.
